Sunday 31st August
So last night I was in bed much earlier that I thought. For some reason I'd read the weather station clock wrongly, checked the landing battery operated one and thought it was on the go-slow and requiring a new battery but when I checked my phone, it was only ten thirty. Early to bed and early to rise and so it was this morning...six....it had been a cold night but I'd somehow put warmer PJ's on so slept well but needed a sweater when I took my coffee outside onto the balcony. I was out there until six thirty, went in to make another coffee, made my bed, got washed and dressed to finish the manure and was out in the yard for eight armed with shovel and wheelbarrow.
I didn't bother with breakfast, I was much too busy, I intended finishing the manure spreading today and at last have the yard back and the smell around the garden not sneaking in through the conservatory and into the house. I'd forgotten that the manure is spread all round the garden and with the windows open it's fresh enough to get in that way...I'll just have to keep looking at the garden and remind myself that it had to be done....the soil was rubbish. I came in at eleven and made ham sandwiches, settled on the sofa and got back some of my strength and followed it with yogurt and a banana. I went out again and worked through until three, I was now completely knacked and only had about four barrow loads to go but I'd reached my limit so came in again and took up my usual stance, put Netflix on and watched a three episodes of a 'new to me series'. Out again refreshed, last few finished, scarified the manure resting place and put the pickings in the wheelbarrow, wheeled it to the garage to be used on the pot plants...maybe tomorrow or when I get round to it.
I popped over to see Avatar to let her know that I'd finished and the other reason was that I'd seen the ladder going up to her grapevine and I was concerned that no one else was in the house and she's crazy enough to try it. As it was her son had been up there getting grapes down for his wife's mother so no harm was about to be done. I didn't stop long, the family arrived back so I opened up the gates to let the car in, went through it and handed Avatar the tied for the gates and made my way home.
Not sure about supper for me, it just might be one of the fat fish fingers that I bought from Lidl on Friday, it will be quick in the air-fryer and very tasty in a sandwich...and maybe a side helping of chippies. .....and dinner migiht be served in the bath.
